Max Loeb García was born in 1977 in Bogotá, Colombia, where he began playing concert guitar as a child. He studied jazz guitar, improvisation, composition and sound engineering at the Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia, at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels and at the Carl Maria von Weber Hochschule für Musik in Dresden, Germany, where he also taught music education. Max Loeb García is also a certified choral conductor (C2).
A main focus of his work is the direction of children's and youth orchestras with alternative approaches, including improvisation and interdisciplinary elements (63rd Primary School Dresden, Neue Waldorfschule Dresden, Musaik e.V. Dresden/Prohlis, farbwerk e.V. and others). In addition, he regularly leads workshops for improvisation and ensemble playing, arranges pieces for various ensembles, composes for short films, dance and theatre pieces and conducts amateur choirs.
His extraordinarily broad repertoire ranges from jazz, rock, pop, klezmer, folk, gypsy and Arabic music to contemporary and baroque classical music. He has given concerts in Germany and other European countries, as well as in Taiwan, China, South Korea, Georgia, Argentina and Colombia.
Since 2011 he is a member of the art association urart e.V. and co-organiser of the "Urart Festival for Land Art" in Bärenstein.
